Sue Williams, a champion for sustainable luxury hospitality, has made significant strides in highlighting the importance of this subject in the UK hospitality sector.
As the former General Manager of Whatley Manor, Sue brought the importance of change to the highest levels of the industry in the UK. By practicing what she preached, Whatley Manor is now well on it’s way to operating as a carbon-neutral business, with a robust Silver accreditation from EarthCheck.
Sue’s vast knowledge and experience have made her the voice of wisdom and knowledge within the UK hospitality industry. Stepping down from her role as General Manager, Sue will now devote her time to supporting other hoteliers and hospitality businesses on their journey towards sustainability.
With the launch of Positive Hospitality, Sue will provide a service to the industry, opening the door for others to access her vast knowledge and experience she has acquired since 2019 to help their businesses on their journey towards sustainability.

Positive Hospitality – Sustainable Hotel Consuktation
Sue Williams is one of the most distinguished hoteliers in the UK, having managed some of the most iconic hotels in the country while setting standards for excellent hospitality and sustainable operations.
After starting as an operations manager at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Sue went on to become the general manager of Bath Priory, Sydney House, and Gidleigh Park, where she oversaw a complete refurbishment of the property that contributed to the hotel’s win of Hotel of the Year at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence in 2009.
Since joining Whatley Manor from Cliveden House in 2016, Sue has been driving the business to deliver luxury hospitality while focusing on a green agenda to achieve net-zero emissions before the end of the decade.
Williams’ enrolment in the inaugural Business and Climate Change: Towards Net Zero Emissions course at the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainable Leadership is a testament to her commitment to sustainability, where she was one of only 30 students to be awarded a scholarship out of 290 students from around the world.
